  • Getting News from Around the World

When a dog bites someone that's not news, but only if that dog bit someone else. (Charles Anderson, American journalist, 1819-97) Now, the news is what someone somewhere wants to bury, all of the rest is marketing. And as with all marketing, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Consider this hot cake coming straight from China, one of the largest suppliers of Fake News. The fake eheartland.sg is dressed up in many different guises. It can be that someone made it up, or they are very knowledgeable about Chinese food and cooking. Either way, we have fake news, and we have fake journalists too, who are willing to spread these lies. In the age of the Internet and particularly social networking, there are many ways that news can travel.

Social networks are everywhere, and anyone can "like" anything they want, and then spread it around. Then the stories start to spread like wildfire. This is one way that news can get around. Another way is by getting picked up by the various news organizations and published across the world. So, how does Fake News get into the news? Well, you could say that it comes out of the left-field, by people who don't have any influence in the news.

They might be doing nothing more than promoting their business or trying to one-up each other by beating the competition. Of course, this type of news is often promoted by the worst people out there, so you should be wary. But it is also often promoted by the people trying to inform people, which is a good thing because they are trying to help.
